What You Can Do

- Run Kizuna as a service on your own servers
What You Must Do
- If you distribute Kizuna or a modified version, you must make the complete source code available under the same AGPLv3 license
- If you run a modified version of Kizuna as a network service (e.g., a public chat server), you must make the source code available to anyone who interacts with that service
- Include the original copyright notice and license text with any distribution
Why AGPLv3?
The AGPLv3 was chosen to ensure that all improvements to Kizuna remain free and open for everyone. If someone modifies Kizuna and offers it as a service, the AGPLv3 ensures their users also benefit from those modifications.
This is a stronger copyleft than the GPL or MIT — it closes the "ASP loophole" where companies could modify GPL software, run it as a service, and never release their changes.
